For the chicken

10 chicken pieces
jerk seasoning, for stuffing
2 tbsp  Cajun seasoning
200g plain flour
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
500ml vegetable oil, for frying
1 tbsp Butter

For  Cajun seasoning

2 tsp ground cayenne pepper
2 tsp ground black pepper
2 tsp ground garlic powder
2 tsp ground coriander
2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp smoked paprika, (optional)
1 tsp dried chilli flakes
1 tsp white sugar
60g dried onion flakes
25g mixed herbs
1 tsp grated Nutmeg
50g Salt

For  jerk seasoning

1 bunch Spring onions, roughly chopped
1 bunch flat-leaf parsley, roughly chopped
2 tbsp fresh Coriander, roughly chopped
1 lime
1 red or yellow Scotch Bonnet chilli, chopped
1/2 lemon, juiced
2 tbsp Olive oil
1 pinch salt and pepper
1 tsp  Cajun seasoning
1 pinch ground mixed spice 

1. For the Cajun seasoning: put the ground spices, chilli flakes, sugar, onion flakes, mixed herbs and grated nutmeg into a food processor and blend to a fine consistency. Mix this with the salt and store in a jar. (It will keep for at least a month or longer in the freezer.)2. For the jerk seasoning: put the spring onions, parsley and coriander into a bowl. Using a sharp knife, peel the lime cutting close to the flesh to remove all of the white pith. Cut it in half and take out the pips. Add to the bowl with half of the chopped chilli and use a hand blender to chop the ingredients.3. Add the lemon juice then slowly add the oil while still mixing until it all blends together to a coarse paste. Mix in the salt, pepper, Cajun seasoning and mixed spice. The mixture should be smooth but not pureed. Taste and add the rest of the chilli if not hot enough. Leave to chill in the fridge – the flavour improves the longer it sits.

4. For the chicken : wash the chicken pieces and gently pat them dry. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Use a small sharp knife to make a 3cm cut in the fleshiest part of each chicken piece, creating small pocket. Stuff with  jerk seasoning. If you like it really hot, push some seasoning under the skin too.

5. Put the flour in a large plastic bag or mixing bowl. Mix in the Cajun seasoning, black pepper and garlic powder. Add the seasoned chicken pieces to the flour mixture and toss until fully coated

6. Heat the oil in a large deep frying pan and add the butter. To test the temperature of the oil, drop a pinch of flour in – if it sizzles immediately you can begin frying.

7. Put the coated chicken pieces skin down in the pan, cook for 5-8 minutes, over a medium heat until golden brown. Turn the pieces, cover the pan and cook for a further 6-10 minutes. Uncover the pan and turn the pieces again. Continue this until the chicken is cooked through. Remove the chicken from the pan and drain on kitchen paper.

8 Sausages
1 Onion
1 Pepper
1 heaped tsp mild chilli powder,
1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika,
1/4 tsp turmeric,
1 heaped tsp curry paste,
2 crushed and chopped cloves of garlic,
grated pepper,
a pinch of salt,
1 chicken oxo cube
a dash of Worcester sauce

1 tin of mixed beans
1 carton Pasatta
2-3 oz grated cheddar


Grill sausages

Chop onions & peppers and fry in sauté pan until soft with olive oil and a dash of vegetable oil.

Add 1 heaped tsp mild chilli powder, 1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika, 1/4 tsp turmeric, 1 heaped tsp curry paste, 2 crushed and chopped cloves of garlic, grated pepper, a pinch of salt, 1 chicken oxo cube and a dash of Worcester sauce.

Fry gently for 5-10 minutes slowly adding the tomatoes after 5 mins

Transfer to a large non-stick saucepan, slice and add sausages, mixed beans and about 2-3 oz grated cheddar (and extra boiling water if necessary). Simmer for 20-30 minutes and it’s ready to serve!

3 Chicken Portions
1 pack ready cooked noodles
1 Onion
1-2 Peppers
1 clove garlic
Baby sweet corn
½ tsp Powdered Ginger
1 tsp Chinese 5 Spice
Lemon Juice
Brown Sugar
¼ to ½ bottle of dark Soy Sauce
¼ to ½ jar of Honey

Teriyaki Sauce

2 packets of Blue Dragon Chow mein stir fry sauce

1 tbsp Sesame oil

½ tbsp Vegetable oil

Sticky Teriyaki Chicken…

First, chop the chicken portions into smaller parts, (remove drumsticks from legs and wing from breast), cut stripes about 1cm apart all over the chicken pieces through to the bone with a sharp knife and place in a deep backing tray or lasagne dish which is not to large (the chicken should just fit in so that he sauce will cover it well while cooking). (NOTE: If using cheaper battery chicken then brown off the chicken pieces in a hot pan with a dash of oil for 5 minutes first – this will help to remove excess water from the chicken and reduce cooking time / improve consistency of sticky sauce – free range chickens contain far less water and so should not need this)

In a jug mix ¼ to ½ jar of honey, ¼ to ½ bottle of Soy Sauce, (roughly equal proportions of honey to Soy Sauce), 2 tbsp Teriyaki Sauce, 3 tsp brown sugar, ½ tsp Powdered Ginger, 1 tsp Chinese 5 Spice, dash of lemon juice, 1 crushed & chopped clove of garlic. (These proportions need to be the same but you can increase / reduce the overall amount so that you have enough marinade to cover the chicken well, if the proportions are different or anything is left out then the sauce will not reduce and go sticky properly.)

Mix the sauce well and pour it over the chicken, making sure to coat it well and work it into the cuts.  (Leave the skin on the chicken, you can remove it after cooking if preferred).  Place in convection oven on 180 degrees for about 45 minutes removing and turning the chicken pieces at least 2 or 3 times during cooking.

Vegetable Chow mein…

Chop baby sweet corn and microwave in a small covered casserole with little water for 2-4 minutes until soft enough to eat, drain and put to one side.  Put noodles onto a plate and cut through them 3 or 4 times with scissors.

Chop onion and pepper and fry in a hot wok or large sauté pan in the sesame oil and vegetable oil for a few minutes, then add a generous dash of soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, lemon juice and 1 tsp brown sugar, when this is sizzling throw in the noodles and baby sweet corn and keep folding in the pan with a large mixing spoon or spatula until the noodles are hot and well coated with the onions / peppers / sweet corn mixed through, keeping the heat on the pan, pour in the 2 packets of Chow mein sauce and stir through until steaming hot and ready to serve.

Note: the chicken should have reduced down to become very well cooked, sticky and dark – you should wait until it approaches this stage and then cover and turn down the oven before starting the noodles.

1 kg carrots grated
1 – 2 celery sticks
½
onion
3 – 4 cloves of garlic crushed
Handful coriander~
1.5 litres vegetable or chicken1oz butter1 tbs Olive oil
Salt
Pepper
2 – 3 tbs plain yogurt
½ tsp cumin powder
¼ tsp tumeric powder

Place butter, olive oil, onion, garlic in pan and simmer for 3 mins. Add stock and other ingredients (except yogurt) and either boil for 1 ½ hours or pressure cook for 30 mins (allowing to de-pressurise slowly)

Then blend, add yogurt and blend a little more, bring back to a simmer to serve (with a sprig of coriander leaf on top)

Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship, of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy,  fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

For having Christ in our lives there is some consolation. We know how to live our lives by being like minded doing the thing our father has told us we should be. We know how we should act as we have seen our love, show mercy, affection and show comfort.

Through something that happen on the other day, in a situation where I had not totally realise I was like that, but through it God has taught me quite a lot about myself and other things.
We go through life thinking we are fine and that we can never grieve the Lord that we would not sin or do thing against God because we know how deep our relationship to him really means. They may be small the sins we have but they are still important to God, they are important to us too. Small sins at the time can seem as though they are huge we do things that we regret they may be small but do grieve God. We can be totally heart broken about what we have done. We may say we are sorry and ask for forgiveness but have we totally forgiven ourselves. We know in our mind that God forgives us of what we have done but that does not take away the pain and hurts that we place upon ourselves. We punish ourselves more than we deserve because God instantly forgives us as soon as we ask for his forgiveness.
I was looking on the Internet about forgiving ourselves and this is something I found which I could relate to it is by Dr Charles Stanley it says
There are basically 4 common problems that keep us in bondage to guilt
  1. Belief in a performance based forgiveness which is when we are taught as a child that we should say sorry when we have done something wrong. Is what we achieve or receive is a result of our own action.
  2. Disappointment in self – It can be difficult to forgive ourselves for not living up to our own expectations
  3. Expectation of repeated sin- we think we will repeat the sin again so what is the point of asking for forgiveness.
  4. Adjustment and surrender to guilt – guilt can be a comfortable part of our thinking and our identity.
I saw myself in the area of not forgiving myself in the area where I was disappointed with myself. How could I forgive myself when to me it was a big thing, I never really meant to do a thing I did, but I did and was so deeply ashamed of myself.
Every time I was on my own the thought would keep coming back to me you cannot be forgiven, you have really hurt that person, you may say your sorry but are you really, you will never change.
I knew that God has forgiven me but still could not really accept it for myself. I knew plenty of scriptures that God forgives us our sins but how could that be for me.
I thought I forgave myself but still the words you are not forgiven. While thinking on what I had done, the words broken hearted kept coming to mind. I was heartbroken that I could damage a relationship with a friend just by the words we say. I wanted to be free the hurt and pain I had deep inside me but I suppose I need to learn what it was like to feel as though I totally messed up. I cannot think of any other time when I felt so convicted of doing something as in this week. Even when I asked God into my life I the thought came back you are not forgiven, you cannot get a way with what you have done. I was reading later that evening the father’s love letter in a book by Jack Frost. This scripture jumped out at me, I felt it really spoke to me as I was feeling rather heartbroken and feeling guilty.
Psalm 34:18 says The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart and saves such as a contrite spirit.
I was so thankful that God was near me and that he came to save everyone who has a contrite spirit.
I then chose to study the words broken hearted and a contrite heart. These are scriptures I found related to being broken hearted and having a contrite heart.
In Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds.
Isaiah 61:1 says the spirit of the sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.
We see from these scriptures that God has come to set us free from having a broken heart, that if we stay in God’s love and laws then we are free. God heals our hearts when they are broken. We have to choose whether we want to be released and freed from the pain that we have. God pours in his love into our lives which wipes out the hurt. His love is so powerful.
When we are broken hearted God is never far away he is actually right next to us, carrying us through, he never gives anything more than we can handle. We may be heartbroken but with God help we get through it.
The second part of psalm 34:18 says about having a contrite spirit and God saves those who have one.
Contrite – deeply repentant, feeling guilt. (dictionary)
Isaiah 57:15 For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Isaiah 66:2 For all those things My hand has made, And all those things exist,” Says the LORD. “But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word.
So God saves/rescues those who have a contrite spirit. A person who is totally repentant of their actions God will save and deliver. So we need to repent of our action and God forgives us but we need to forgive ourselves. We don’t need to feel guilty any more as God took the punishment of our sin upon the cross when he died for us. The price was paid. God forgives us of all our sins, every little and big thing. God require us to come to him with a contrite heart knowing we have done wrong and it is only through him that we can be saved; our spirit is humbled in doing so. We learn to put our spirit and mind in tune with the way God wants us to live. It is only coming to God with a contrite and humble spirit that we can see revival in our lives then it flows from us to the people around us.

While struggling with my own thoughts, I knew in my heart that something had to change, I needed a deep peace within me. God revealed to me that I need to take every thought captive, stand firm on the word of God, not to let the enemy get a foothold and what God has started in our lives he will carry it out to completion.

Take every thought captive

In 2 Corinthians 10:5 it says “ We demolish arguments and pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

There are times in our life, when the thoughts we have are not godly thoughts. When the enemy attacks our mind with thoughts that are not constructive. We let the thoughts in our head run away with themselves. When we may be angry, afraid, hurt, may be other things as well. But we have a choice to make how do we want to be thinking, do we want to be living obedient to God or to Satan the father of lies. If our thoughts do not line up with God’s word then we are letting the enemy have a foothold in our life. We need to re-focus our attention on what we know and believe God has told us. If we take every thought captive we are re-aligning our thoughts with God, so the arguments and pretension become void as we are now following God’s will for our life instead of listening to the lies that the enemy is pouring into our mind. The thoughts in our life can become a stronghold if we do not take our thoughts captive.

To take captive every thought implies that our mind is a battlefield, not a physical battle but a spiritual battle. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesian 6:12)

What are our thoughts that we need to take captive?

Anything that is impure, deception ,unclean thoughts, our sinful nature and self ambitions to name to a few. In Matthew 15:18 and 19 it says “But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’ For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.” And in Galatians 5:19 – 21“The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.” They are the thoughts that may be we have, but must be bought into line with God’s word.

What thoughts are pure, holy and clean?

Thoughts of peace, joy, love, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. These are the fruit we can see in our lives if we are obeying God, his words and if we are seeking to do God’s will (Galatians 5:22 and 23). Paul tells us in Philippians 4:8 and 9 Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

God understands our thoughts

God asks us to serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understand every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever. 1 Chronicles 28:9

So God knows our every thought before we have even before we have thoughts it. He knows our motivation behind the thoughts we have. He knew from the time we were conceived to the moment we die, he knows us so well. He knows the choices we will make when we are faced with them but God has given us free choice, so we may choose to let our minds be filled with the lies the enemy put in us or we can choose to believe the truth that God places inside us.

How do we take these thoughts captive?

We can not use weapons of the flesh such as mental imagery or positive thinking will not bring us victory that God has for us. People who use these tools and claim that have seen results but are deceived, as we are focusing on ourself instead completely on God.

We can use spiritual weapons, God reveal himself to us through

  • A testimony of witnesses

  • He will speak to us through other people

  • By reading the bible we God

  • In our spirit we can sense God

We can take these thoughts captive

  • by constantly reading his word daily,

  • listening

  • praying to God.

When we hear the thought that are not from God

  • to take action,

  • we need to seek God

  • ask him to reveal more of himself to us.

  • Asking for forgiveness.

  • Read more from his word, the more our mind is filled with godly thoughts the more we can fight back and claim what God has given us.

God has told us in his word who we are in him so we do not need to deceive ourselves of the lies the enemy place in our minds.

Conclusion for taking every thought captive.

God has placed in us, to know, what is right and wrong. He will reveal to us and we can bear witness to what is happening. If we find ourself trying to justifying our action then we are more than likely not in God’s perfect will for us. God has given us free choice. Our actions are our own choosing, so we can either follow God or not. God allows us to choose and if we fall then hopefully we learn something through our experience and do better if another opportunity arises. God places in our hearts and mind the way we should go.
